The Milltown and Charleville Block has been applied for and the final licences were offered to Adventus on 16th May 2018. Adventus have since accepted the offers and paid all required fees under EMD application procedures and currently anticipate licence issue in the third quarter of 2018 under the application procedures. Minerals of interest requested on the licences are; Zinc, Lead, Copper, Barite, Silver, Cobalt, Platinum-group elements and Gold.
Both blocks have been highlighted as prospective as a result of Adventus Zinc’s new structural and stratigraphic interpretations at its Rathkeale Block and similar advances, regional research and prospectivity studies, related to our exploration on the Lismore and Fermoy Blocks.
The licences under application are considered to have good potential for;
a) Waulsortian-hosted Zn-Pb mineralization
b) Gortdrum or Aherlow-style Cu-Ag mineralization hosted in the Lower Limestone Shales
c) Carbonate-hosted Cu-Zn-Pb-Co-Ag mineralization
Exploration at Milltown will focus on large-scale structures along, and parallel to, the northern flank of the South Irish Lineament (SIL) to determine if these had original extensional movement in the key early-Carboniferous period and on coincident discrete areas of base-metal mineralization at Muckross, Ross Island, Banteer and Tullacondra, as well as geochemical anomalism and structural-stratigraphic targets.
On the Charleville Block geological and structural interpretations around the Galtee inlier suggest the presence of large inverted, but originally extensional, structures along the northern flank and to the west of the inlier. This zone may be coincident with a western extrapolation of the Rathdowney trend (Lisheen/ Galmoy/Rapla).
Detailed targeting studies and field checking of prospects for both areas have begun and are expected to be completed by end of Q3 2018.
