The Gaine River area is located in the northern sector of the Irish Zn-Pb orefield, covering approx. 6,000 hectares.
The property lies some 9 km from the Ballinalack Deposit (7.8 Mt @ 6.4% Zn, 1.0% Pb & 27 g/t Ag) and 15 km NW of Pale Beds hosted Zn-Pb mineralization at Sion Hill held by Rio Tinto at Clonlost (2.3 m @ 4.9% Zn+Pb combined).
A primary feature of interest is the Gaine River Zinc anomaly (with local lead support), which extends for 10km NE-SW through the block and whose source is unexplained. Dynamic structural modelling by Teck suggests that structures in the Gaine River Block were active in the lower most Carboniferous offering a prospective target worthy of further exploration work.
